I have owned these hot rollers for.... wow 7 years and they are still going strong. They are velvet covered from end to end and that keeps the hair from getting over heated, protects the ends, and gives a little grip so you can wrap the hair around each roller. Do not let the velvet fool you, these do heat up and get hot but due to the way they are made they do not burn you, they curl your hair. I do not use the U shaped clips that came with the set due to my hair is so baby fine the rollers were falling out of my hair very easily. I use a different clip and that review is included next. Now I did once a long while back ( like 4 or 5 years ago) I dropped the whole set of hot rollers. I was carrying the set to my bathroom to use them and poof just dropped them box and all. I was so upset. But to my surprise, only one roller popped the end off and the outer case only cracked in the middle of the lid. I threw away the broken roller due to it exposing the insides and was not sure if it would cause a fire or not so I threw away the one roller. The rest of the set works as if it is brand new. Most definitely worth every penny.
