6/21/2012 - OK everyone. I said that I would review products only after using them for more than a short time but I took a big chance on this one a week ago and have used the stuffing out of it and said to myself I have to go head and do at least a partial review on it. If you are looking into a juicer and eating healthier as I am now doing then this is why I felt the need to go ahead.
I have only used it to put fruits and veggies into and make juice. This thing rips and roars into those fruits and veggies frozen or fresh like a true ninja. They say that we loose vital nutrients when we use the juicers that leave the skins as pulp, well no problem here. I do not suggest you put grapes in it with the stems and all due to the stems are small enough that they do get missed. Broccoli the tops get ground down but the very tops are left very very tiny so you can detect that they are there but its not enough to make you not want broccoli in you juice. If you do not get enough liquid just add juice or water and it will blend better. I have found that a cake batter scraper will scrap anything (usually leavey spinich) off the sides if you did not have enough liquid. Apples, cut in half due to the blades are in the center and the apple will ride on top if you don't. Grapes and bananas are real good for covering the veggies tastes. I just wing it and put in what I want for that time as far as fruits and veggies and a medium to large glass fills me up and keeps me not hungry for 3 to 3 and a half hours. It also chops up ice like it was nothing. I pulse it a couple of times then hit the full blast button and the ice is chopped down to real fine cools the drink greatly. Use frozen fruits and veggies and you will get a smoothy for sure. Thick enough for a spoon if you want. One little draw back and its not really that bad but if not careful can damage the lid. The lid handle can lock into the up position and not be able to go down to lock on the blender cup, if this happens do not panic. On each side of the handle is a white clip. Just hold both in and the handle will unlock. Now this is just when you have the lid off the blender cup. I have yet to figure out why this is there and happens but like I said its not a big deal and is easy to fix. I say so far it is proving itself to be a great deal.
As for its longevity you will have to tune back in to here in about 3 weeks for an update but I think it will prove itself. We shall see. Again this was one I had to comment on now and it has been a full week of daily use and most days more than once.
8/5/2012 - Update I have been using this product about every 3 days making frozen fruit and veggie drinks and every now and then like twice a month I make something like a shake. Tonight I made a chocolate banana shake that my son said came real close to the new one they have at the golden arches (and he loves those). I used real banana in it. It tastes good, real good. So just to let you know that the Ninja is still kicking some serious butt. Will update again in about a month. Take care everyone.
